From August 14 to 16, 2026, Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center (GCCC) carried out a series of overseas exchange activities in Jakarta and Surabaya, Indonesia, including a cancer health talk and the Surabaya International Health and Medical Expo. This marks another important step for GCCC in deepening international medical cooperation and promoting the international exchange of quality medical resources.
Indonesia is the most populous country in Southeast Asia and one of the world's major source markets for medical tourism. In recent years, with the rising incidence of cancer and the growing demand for high-quality medical services, a large number of Indonesian patients have chosen to seek medical treatment overseas, which fully reflects the urgent need of local patients for advanced international oncology services. GCCC's visit to Indonesia aims to address this demand by bringing internationally standardized oncology diagnosis and treatment services closer to Indonesian patients.
Cancer Health Talk in Jakarta
On the evening of August 14, Qian Chaonan, President of GCCC, attended a cancer health talk in Jakarta with around 100 attendees. President Qian delivered a presentation titled "Radiation Therapy in Modern Oncology: Principles, Modalities, and Clinical Practice", showcasing the hospital's professional expertise and advanced technologies in oncology diagnosis and treatment.
After the talk, representatives from local medical institutions expressed interest in collaboration, while many patients and their families made detailed inquiries about seeking medical treatment in China. The response was enthusiastic.
Surabaya International Health and Medical Expo
From August 14 to 16, the GCCC team attended the Surabaya International Health and Medical Expo. President Qian Chaonan, Ms. Zhou Minping, Deputy Director of Nursing, and You Jin, Head of International Medical Services, were on site, receiving nearly 50 patient consultations over the three days.
President Qian also delivered a hospital-specific radiotherapy lecture titled "Radiation Therapy in Modern Oncology: Principles, Modalities, and Clinical Practice", and participated in a panel discussion with local counterparts to explore cancer treatment strategies, drawing an enthusiastic response.
GCCC's Proton Therapy Excellence
As the first operational proton therapy center in South China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau), GCCC has established a long-term partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center and provides cancer care services in accordance with international standards. The hospital's Proton Therapy Center officially commenced clinical operations in December 2024. Since its clinical launch, the center has provided proton radiotherapy to over 1,000 patients within 19 months, with consecutive single-day treatment volumes exceeding 100 patients, placing its operational efficiency among the top tier internationally.
Proton therapy has broad clinical applicability, covering dozens of solid tumor types including head and neck tumors, intracranial tumors, lung cancer, breast cancer, digestive system tumors, urinary system tumors, gynecological tumors, ocular tumors, bone and soft tissue sarcomas, and lymphomas. Patients range in age from 13 months to 91 years, achieving full age-spectrum coverage. The patient base spans 32 provincial-level administrative regions across China and has also benefited international patients from more than 20 countries, including those from Europe, the Americas, and Southeast Asia.
