Systemic therapy — chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and endocrine therapy — is one of the three pillars of cancer treatment, alongside surgery and radiotherapy. At Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center (GCCC), the Department of Medical Oncology delivers these treatments as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary programme of care.
The team manages the full spectrum of solid tumours, including breast cancer, lung cancer, digestive tract tumours, gynaecological tumours and genitourinary tumours. Every treatment plan is discussed within the hospital's multidisciplinary (MDT) tumour board, which brings together medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, radiology and pathology.
Among them are senior chief physicians who have treated tens of thousands of patients and young physicians trained at leading Chinese cancer centres, working together on the safe and effective delivery of systemic therapy.

A young physician in the Department of Medical Oncology. She holds a Master's degree in Basic Medical Sciences. From 2021 to 2024 she completed her standardised residency training at the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. She is experienced in the standardised diagnosis and treatment of common solid tumours, in the delivery of chemotherapy and targeted therapy, in the monitoring of adverse reactions and in patient follow-up management.

A young physician in the Department of Medical Oncology. She holds a Master's degree in Oncology. From 2019 to 2022 she completed her standardised residency training in internal medicine at Henan Provincial People's Hospital. She is experienced in the standardised diagnosis and treatment of respiratory, digestive and gynaecological malignant tumours, and is proficient in tumour chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and palliative supportive care. She has extensive clinical experience in the comprehensive management of advanced tumours, the prevention and control of adverse reactions, and the formulation of individualised treatment plans.
Dr. Feng Cuiyu

A young physician in the Department of Medical Oncology, she holds a Master's degree in Immunology from Dalian Medical University. She is a committee member of the Professional Committee for Clinical Research of Oncology Drugs, the Professional Committee for Tumour Targeted Therapy, the Professional Committee for Tumour Precision Therapy, the Professional Committee for Tumour Supportive Care and the Professional Committee for Tumour Microenvironment, and a committee member of the Cancer Prevention and Rehabilitation Branch of the Guangdong Health Care Association. She completed her standardised residency training at the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Centre and the Second and Third Affiliated Hospitals of Sun Yat-sen University. She specialises in the medical treatment of malignant tumours — particularly solid tumours such as breast cancer, lung cancer, digestive system tumours, gynaecological tumours and genitourinary tumours — using chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and endocrine therapy.

She graduated from Hebei Medical College with a Master's degree in Medicine. She formerly served as director of the Department of Medical Oncology at Xi'an Chang'an Hospital and as an associate chief physician at Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University; she also conducted research on the molecular biology of breast cancer and other tumours at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Baylor College of Medicine in the United States. With more than 30 years of basic research and clinical practice in solid tumours, she has accumulated rich experience particularly in the comprehensive treatment of solid tumours such as breast cancer, lung cancer and digestive tract tumours, as well as in cancer pain management. She formerly served as chairwoman of the Breast Cancer Professional Committee of the Shenzhen branch of the China Cancer Prevention and Control Alliance and as deputy chairwoman of the Cancer and Palliative Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Shenzhen Anti-Cancer Association, among other professional appointments.

A well-known expert in medical oncology and a chief physician, she is deputy chairwoman of the Tumour Recurrence and Metastasis Professional Committee of the Guangzhou Anti-Cancer Association; a standing committee member of the Oncology Professional Committee of the Guangdong Clinical Medical Association; a standing committee member of the Immunotherapy Branch of the Guangdong Health Care Association; a committee member of the Tumour Microenvironment Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association; and a committee member of the Tumour Precision Committee of the Guangdong Health Association. She has worked on the front line of tumour clinical care for nearly 20 years and has treated more than ten thousand patients with various malignant tumours. She specialises in the comprehensive treatment of lung cancer, breast cancer, oesophageal cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, head and neck malignancies, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, sarcoma, glioma, lymphoma and urinary system malignancies, as well as the comprehensive treatment of intestinal obstruction. She is skilled in assessing the indications for minimally invasive interventional therapy, in the symptomatic treatment of adverse reactions after chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and in the comprehensive treatment of malignant pleural and peritoneal effusion. She is experienced in the rescue and treatment of patients with oncological emergencies, and has published multiple SCI papers and national-level journal articles.
Coordinated Care with Surgery and Radiotherapy
Medical oncology at GCCC does not work in isolation. Physicians in the department collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists and supportive care specialists, and complex cases are reviewed by the hospital's multidisciplinary (MDT) tumour board to determine the most appropriate sequence of surgery, radiotherapy and systemic therapy for each patient.
For international patients, the hospital's international medical services team assists with medical record review, remote consultation, visa invitation letters, airport transfers and interpretation, so that treatment can begin promptly after arrival in Guangzhou.
