Surgical Oncology

Expert cancer surgery combining advanced minimally invasive techniques with oncologic precision for optimal tumor removal and faster recovery.

Precision Cancer Surgery at GCCC

Surgery remains the most effective treatment for many solid tumors, especially when cancer is detected at an early stage. At Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center, our surgical oncology team combines decades of experience with advanced minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques to achieve excellent oncologic outcomes with reduced recovery times.

Key advantage: Our surgeons are trained in both open and minimally invasive approaches, allowing them to select the optimal surgical technique for each patient's unique situation — balancing cancer clearance with quality of life.

Surgical Specialties

Thoracic Surgery

Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and robotic-assisted lobectomy, segmentectomy, and wedge resection for lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, and esophageal cancer. Minimally invasive approaches mean smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery.

Gastrointestinal Surgery

Laparoscopic and robotic-assisted gastrectomy, colectomy, and rectal cancer surgery with total mesorectal excision (TME). Our surgeons follow standardized oncologic principles including adequate lymph node dissection and margin-negative resection.

Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery

Complex liver resections, pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure), and biliary tract cancer surgery. Our team has extensive experience in both open and laparoscopic liver surgery, including for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and colorectal liver metastases.

Breast Surgery

Breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy) with sentinel lymph node biopsy, as well as skin-sparing and nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction options. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures coordinated care with radiation oncology and medical oncology.

Head & Neck Surgery

Comprehensive surgery for oral cavity, laryngeal, pharyngeal, thyroid, and salivary gland cancers, with a focus on functional preservation and reconstruction when needed.

Gynecologic Oncology Surgery

Radical hysterectomy, ovarian cancer cytoreductive surgery, and complex pelvic surgery using minimally invasive techniques when appropriate. Fertility-sparing options are discussed with eligible patients.

Urologic Oncology Surgery

Robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy, partial and radical nephrectomy, and radical cystectomy with urinary diversion. Nerve-sparing techniques are utilized to preserve function when oncologically safe.
